The Dragon plays her final home match

Seattle Reign FC 1
Orlando Pride 0
November 1, 2026
Lumen Field – Seattle, WA
NWSL Regular Season

NWSL Decision Day in Seattle had two very large storylines entering the match.

Reign FC needed to get a win or have other results they needed occur to secure them the final playoff position. The simultaneous match in North Carlina between the Courage and Denver Summit would linger over the match in Seattle.

Jessica Fishlock would either be playing her final ever professional match, or have her career extended at least one and up to three games with a playoff run.

Orlando trekked all the way up to the Pacific Northwest having already been eliminated from playoff contention and playing out the schedule.

The hosts had every reason to come out on the front foot and take it to Orlando. They did. The first half hour remained goalless as the Reign would get looks and chances, but the Pride defense and keeper Cosette Morche were able to clear and save.

Nerilia Mondesir in the 17th minute managed to get past Morche, but her header was cleared off the line.

Mia Fishel got on the end of a Fishlock cross, but again it was saved.

Maddie Mercado got a look from long range in the 29th, but again Morche was there.

Fishlock’s header would be stopped on the line in the 43rd.

The Pride occasionally got forward, but those counters did not generate many chances.

The Reign were riding a fine line as the first half wound down and the other result being watched was also goalless. They could afford a tie, but only under certain circumstances.

The pressing and attacking continued into the second half. By the hour mark, the match remained level and goalless, even as Seattle sent numbers forward.

The goal finally came for Seattle in the 68th minute. A Reign corner slipped across the goal and Jordyn Bugg poked the ball in from short range at the far post. A moment of VAR related stress had the stadium on edge, but the goal would count.

Orlando pushed to equalize. The Pride had shown up with little to play for, but had defended hard. Once Seattle grabbed the goal, they did push forward with the Reign doing some clock management. The hosts needed to be careful, the single goal margin was good, but still tenuous for their playoff life.

Fishlock would come off in the 81st minute to a huge ovation.

The four minutes of announced stoppage time had the stadium on edge. As long as the results held, things were good for the home side.

The match ended at 1-0 and Seattle clinched the final playoff spot. Jessica Fishlock’s career is extended at least one week.

Orlando finished by playing a good match, even on the losing end of the score line. The club has many decisions to make.

Reign FC travel to play Gotham FC on Sunday November 8 at 12:30PM EST.
